The Laguiole knife was created at the beginning of the 19th century in the Aubrac region to answer the needs of local cattle risers for whom it became an essential tool. Its curved handle, originally handcrafted in natural horn, fits perfectly its user’s hand. Its sharp blade, famous for its legendary cutting edge, is forged in top quality steel.

Yet your Laguiole knife requires minimum care :

  • catches of pocket-knives need regular lubrification
  • blades need regular sharpening, preferably with a natural sharpening stone
  • wooden and horn handles must not get wet : wipe them with a dry cloth instead of washing them.

To ward off  cutting friendship’s ties,  the custom wants that when being given a knife one should  hand over a coin in exchange.
